Location: New York, NY


With our client's founder retiring this year, the Agency President has a career-defining opportunity to help an established, well-positioned, profitable niche agency grow its 10-person team, build its client roster, increase its footprint in the W&S space, and expand into other verticals.


The merger with another agency allows our client to stay true to its roots (public relations, digital marketing and advertising, branding strategy, media partnerships, influencer partnerships,

and advocacy marketing), while now being able to offer such services as studio/video/photography, ad campaign creation, full media buying, brand design, CPG packaging, e-commerce, and an expanded ability to generate new business.


Together, the 30+ strong team in South Carolina and the NYC-based 10-person team will bring a cross-cultural perspective and collaborative team approach.


The President is the glue for the agency, beats the drum (provides rhythm and cadence), is accountable for P&L results, executes the business plan, holds the leadership and client teams

accountable, and is a steady voice for profitability, culture, growth, and excellence in the

organization. The President creates organizational clarity, communication, and consistency;

drives results; encourages resolution, focus, team unity, prioritization, and follow-through;

harmoniously integrates the Leadership team; and helps to remove obstacles and barriers.

Seven Operating Functions Who Report Directly To The President:

  4. Agency Market Positioning and Marketing Strategy
  5. Agency Public Relations
  6. Work with agency to leverage services in conjunction with our client's.
  7. Client & Agency’s Media including Traditional, Digital, Social and SEO


Primary Roles of The President:

  • Agency Vision. Create a clear vision and mission of the agency, communicate it regularly to all stakeholders.
  • Strategy and Services. Accountable for ensuring senior-level client strategy is delivered for all clients. Works with the CEO and leadership team to consider adding services that grow the agency’s market share and profitability.
  • Growth and Profitability. Responsible for ensuring YOY growth and agency profitability. The top Q4 2023/Q1 2024 priorities include spearheading the creation and rollout of the following plans:
  • Augmenting wine and spirits’ content strategy and delivery (including but not limited to digital content, speaking opportunities, prospective client events, etc.), and better positioning key leaders at the company as thought leaders within the industry.
  • Expanding into other logical new business/prospecting vertical industries.
  • Working with agency leadership and the CEO, evolve the company brand, and determine the viability and/or best direction for possibly rebranding the agency as a single entity.
  • Predictable Rhythm and Results. Create and maintain a structure that delivers a healthy culture focused on predictable, measurable results that meet the business objectives.
  • Leadership Accountability. Ensure leadership goals align with overall business goals, hold the team accountable to objectives.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  1. Formulate and commit to writing a yearly sales and expense plan.
  2. Accountable for the retention and growth of all clients, including maintaining a 1-on-1 relationship with current clients’ leadership.
  3. Champion new business,attend and lead new business presentations, review the progress of new business and digital marketing teams responsible for inbound lead gen.
  4. Explore opportunities for growth and profitability (e.g., nearshoring/outsourcing, strategic alliances, product/IP development, acquisitions, etc).
  5. Be personally involved in civic organizations, especially those that may serve as sources of new business and talent recruiting. Assign personnel and resources to the same efforts, as you see fit.
  6. Guide PR and marketing plans, initiatives, and growth of key agency leaders’ personal brands, as they help grow the agency’s thought leadership and prospecting footprints.
  7. Accountable for directing the process and implementation of the personnel function.


Duties:

  • Responsible for overall financial and corporate administration of the company.
  • Maintains contact with senior personnel in client organizations.
  • Maintains corporate image in relevant verticals’ communities.
  • Solicits new business and directs new business programs.
  • Supervises department leaders.
  • Provides direction and assistance as needed to account teams.
  • Approves major purchases and capital expenditures in accordance with the agency’s authorization matrix, and provides final arbitration on billing to clients.
  • Conducts executive performance reviews, oversees employee salary reviews.
  • Interviews applicants for executive positions, support positions recommended by subordinate supervisory personnel.
  • Makes final decisions on all client contracts and offers of employment, except senior and executive leadership (joint approval required per agency’s authorization matrix).
  • Establishes corporate policies and long-term objectives along with the agency CEO.


Duties Related To New Business:

  • Allows 40% of their time for leading new business activities, fills public role of “face of the agency/new business ambassador” and is publicity-conscious.
  • Provides consistent thought leadership on digital platforms and with key industry media.
  • Signs all important new business correspondence/contracts.
  • Is fully alerted to all new business activities and list of prime prospects to prevent short- circuiting new business team’s efforts.
  • Attends new business presentations as a well-prepared member of the “pitch” team, but is entrenched enough in every new business presentation to be able to handle entire pitches single-handedly if necessary.
