The Media & e-Commerce Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of paid media planning, buying and reporting - including traditional, digital, social and retail media. This position also manages the team responsible for the day-to-day success of client stores and e-commerce management. The Media & e-Commerce Director is responsible for the management of Media, Ad Operations and e-Commerce team members and ensuring the team is focused on client development and is seeking to maximize potential for all clients.
The Media & e-Commerce Director is also responsible for staying current on media and marketing research and best practices. The Media & e-Commerce Director is responsible for providing strategic media insight for client deliverables, executing, developing and coaching the media team on well-thought out media plans, weekly/monthly performance reports, and establishing campaign benchmarks and KPIs.
The Media & e-Commerce Director also has a primary responsibility of leading the e-commerce team, overseeing all activities and ensuring alignment with agency and clients’ vision and objectives. The Media & e-commerce Director oversees the team responsible for daily
management of clients’ stores and shopping experiences, including Amazon, Walmart, Target, Instacart and more, along with new checkout options for consumers. The Media & e-Commerce Director stays current on new media and e-commerce trends and vendors, helping train the teams and agency as a whole on opportunities.

Responsibilities:
- Paid Media Management:
- Develop and execute comprehensive full-funnel, data-driven paid media strategies across all channels, including traditional, digital and paid social media.
- Work closely with the retail media and paid search teams to round out recommendations for clients
- Conduct thorough market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and trends in the paid media landscape.
- Oversee the strategic incorporation of primary, secondary, and appropriate research into the development of media plans, POVs, agency content and communication.
- Monitor and advise on new opportunities in traditional, digital, paid social, retail media and e-commerce, including reviewing new mediums, and informing team members of innovative and creative ad units, listings and technologies.
- Work with sales team on new business opportunities, providing research, strategy and pitch capabilities to help grow the agency.
- Develop and manage budgets for paid media campaigns, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize return on investment (ROI).
- Monitor and report on campaign performance, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Audit current clients’ spend and hours put against retainers to look for new and innovative ways to grow the account within the agency.
- Maintain and audit the overall media flow process within the agency, working with the AMPD and AMBD to ensure all team members are trained
- E-commerce Management:
- Oversee the e-commerce team and monitor performance of clients’ e-commerce platforms to drive sales and enhance the overall customer experience for the agency’s e-commerce driven clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, UX/UI, marketing and sales to ensure a seamless, platform-agnostic online shopping experience.
- Implement strategies to increase website traffic, conversion rates, and average order value.
- Analytics and Reporting:
- Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) for paid media and e-commerce initiatives.
- Present reporting in client meetings, recommending actionable changes to improve performance, including moving money within paid media and moving it to other agency channels.
- Generate regular reports for senior management, highlighting campaign performance, trends and areas for improvement.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead, recruit and mentor a team of paid media and e-commerce professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Provide guidance on industry best practices, emerging trends and new technologies.
- Manage department salaries to AGI and growth paths for employees, fostering a positive work environment for the team. Continue to push training and employee growth for all department employees
- Continue developing the e-commerce and retail media team, staffing the team appropriately for optimal performance.
- Manage workloads for team members, knowing when a team member needs help and when the department overall needs additional staff, providing relevant reasoning to Chief Growth Officer and President on how that new team member will fit.
- Ensure client media and e-commerce relationships are positive and stable; and that the Chief Growth Officer is immediately informed of any potential problems with client/agency/vendor relations, billing issues, etc.
- Participate in at least one check-in/per year for all team members.
- Develop an overall strategic plan for the departments within the agency in order to grow performance and profitability.
- Have working knowledge of STRATA, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Analytics, GA4, Google Suite, Google Campaign Manager, Paid Social Ad Platforms, Amazon and other retail platforms.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate with all relevant internal teams to align paid media and e-commerce strategies with overall business goals.
- Work with external agencies and vendors to optimize partnerships and leverage additional expertise.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the agency.
- Advise TBA Public Relations team of potential editorial opportunities.
- Approve vacation requests and all administrative activities of the departments.
- Report to the Chief Growth Officer in a timely manner on all aspects of the department.
- Participate in agency marketing and training including but not limited to blog writing, webinars and lunch and learns.
- Prepare special projects and reports as directed by the President or CEO.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Will be trained to assist with other departmental and agency functions on an as needed basis.

- Attend new business pitches via zoom or in-person, depending on the investment potential of the prospective client
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in developing and implementing successful paid media and e-commerce strategies.
- In-depth knowledge of various digital marketing channels, platforms, and tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated success in managing and optimizing e-commerce platforms.
- Experience with budget management and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with the latest trends and innovations in digital marketing and e-commerce.
