We are seeking a Public Relations Account Manager who will be responsible for managing a portfolio of public relations clients across our client's roster of national brands. Candidates should have vast experience at building strong client relationships, developing account management strategies, and leading teams to deliver solutions that drive clients’ businesses.
Requires strong public relations campaign planning skills, as well as the ability to train, mentor, and motivate staff, especially in the area of media relations efforts that result in high-level earned media placements.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or a related field
- 7-10+ years of public relations/communications experience
- Track record of media placements in traditional and online media
- Ability to manage a team, with the flexibility to execute tactically when needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agency experience strongly preferred
- Wine & Spirits experience
- New business: presentation writing and presentation skills—Ability to generate new business and/or ability and passion for nurturing prospective new clients early in the discovery process, leading SOW/business/positioning discussions, preparing and leading presenting of new business proposals
- Experience (ideally within wine & spirits) with broader scope of marketing, including digital media advertising, social media management, event management, media buying
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Manage staff and resources to ensure public relations campaigns/projects are successfully meeting expectations; on time and on budget.
- Delegate account work and assignments to their team members.
- Write strategic public relations plans/programs, including cost and time estimates.
- Build strong client relationships and continuously seek ways to utilize our public relations offerings to benefit their business goals.
- Provide strategic client counsel.
- Stay apprised of news, market developments, industry trends/issues, and competitors that may affect clients’ businesses.
- Provide strategic guidance to staff and/or clients in crisis communications situations or on sensitive/controversial topics.
- When necessary, generate press releases, pitch stories to the media, coordinate press trips, or conduct other tactical-level activations.
- Demonstrate proficiency in persuasive writing, including pitch letters, press releases, bylines, award/speaking nominations, and measurement reports.
- Identify and sell in new services opportunities (additional PR services as well as the offerings of our advertising group).
- Contribute to new business pitches when necessary.
